1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account, we collect your email address and password (stored securely via Supabase Auth). You may optionally provide a display name, username, bio, and profile photo.

Transaction Data

When you buy or sell items, we collect transaction details including item information, pricing, and shipping addresses. Payment information is processed securely by Stripe and is never stored on our servers.

Location Data

With your permission, we collect approximate location data to show you nearby yard sales and items. Location data is used to power our map features and proximity-based search. You can disable location access at any time through your device settings.

Usage Data

We collect information about how you use YRDSL, including pages visited, features used, search queries, and interaction patterns. This helps us improve the Platform and your experience.

Device Information

We collect basic device information including device type, operating system, browser type, and IP address for security and performance purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

  • Provide and improve the Platform's features and services
  • Process transactions and send related notifications
  • Show you relevant items and sales based on your location and preferences
  • Communicate with you about your account, transactions, and Platform updates
  • Detect and prevent fraud, spam, and abuse
  • Comply with legal obligations
  • Analyze usage patterns to improve the Platform

3. Information Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share information with:

  • Other users: Your public profile, listings, reviews, and community posts are visible to others
  • Service providers: We use Stripe (payments), Supabase (infrastructure), Mapbox (maps), Sentry (error tracking), and PostHog (analytics)
  • Law enforcement: When required by law or to protect safety

4. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored on Supabase's infrastructure (AWS). We implement industry-standard security measures including encryption in transit (TLS), row-level security policies, and secure authentication. Payment data is handled entirely by Stripe and is PCI DSS compliant.

5. Cookies & Tracking

We use cookies and similar technologies for authentication, remembering preferences, and analytics. You can control cookie settings through your browser. Our analytics provider (PostHog) uses first-party cookies that respect Do Not Track preferences.

6. Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Correction: Update inaccurate information in your account settings
  • Deletion: Delete your account and associated data
  • Portability: Request your data in a machine-readable format
  • Opt-out: Unsubscribe from marketing communications at any time

7. Children's Privacy

YRDSL is not intended for users under 18 years old. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

8. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. After account deletion, we may retain certain data for up to 30 days for backup purposes and as required by law. Transaction records may be retained longer for legal and compliance purposes.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected, the right to delete, and the right to opt-out of the sale of personal information. We do not sell personal information.

10. International Users

YRDSL is operated from the United States. If you access the Platform from outside the US, your information will be transferred to and processed in the US. By using the Platform, you consent to this transfer.

11. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or a prominent notice on the Platform.
